Nature Positive supports companies and their investors in understanding their impacts and dependence on biodiversity.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Nature Positive approached us with a new web application concept which would allow companies to complete an assessment and review where they should focus their efforts to have the greatest impact on delivering the Sustainable Development Goals.
In our discussion, they mentioned a couple of points that needed to be taken care of:
Lag in Assessment
There is always a lag in computing and assessing the current risk levels and the designated SDG goals.
Manual Tabs
It is difficult to manually compile the data and keep the tabs without any error.
Lack of Reminders
It is almost impossible to benchmark the progress and get reminders on how the companies are progressing with delivering on their SDGs.
With the help of this tool, Companies will easily be able to login and complete a series of questions split into their companies operations, downstream and upstream.
Upon completing the assessment, the company is provided a report with a breakdown on the areas they should focus their effort the most to have the greatest impact on delivering the SDGs. The tool tailors itself so that some are more applicable in certain industries and geographies.
The results of the assessment are provided in a visualized format using interactive graphs, highlighting the areas the company needs to work on. A score is also provided to the company so that they can benchmark their progress after making the relevant suggested changes. They can then come back at a later date to see how they are progressing with delivering on their SDGs.
We will be working on phase 2, once the data has been collated. SDG tool is going to be live very soon.
With the help of this tool, companies will easily be able to assess their current risk levels & status of delivering against each sustainable development goals.
We will also be efficiently supporting and maintaining in the long run!
